When Janelle first showed me her jewelry line, and we started talking about lifestyle photography and what type of woman might wear this jewelry, my mind immediately went to some of my absolute favorite fashion photography on the planet -- the Sundance Catalogue.

Over the years, Sundance consistently features beautiful women in beautiful outdoor settings. The locations are always natural and gorgeous (as are the models), but without being distracting, or worse, upstaging the products.

The women appear outdoorsy but still elegant, classically tasteful but also current and hip. The ladies look expensive without being gaudy, and sexy but never slutty or tawdry. I'm not going to lie, I set out to basically replicate these things for Janelle and her product line, Catalyst J, and I think we nailed it. Janelle has a very strong personality and prerogative, and we wanted that to come across in the photography: her jewelry is perfect for a confident, athletic, outdoorsy kind of gal who still wants to add a touch of femininity and sparkle.
